A lot goes on in the department. If a store is robbed and they have it on tape Gino is the video analysis, and producer, he edits all the video so that it will apparent for court so that the criminal can be prosecuted to the full extent, said Det. Moses.

Its Monday morning, 8:30, in the office of Detective Donnie Moses. He opens up his web portal to see what work he needs to begin on or finish up.

Det. Moses gathers all his equipment needed to get the editing started.

After that he calls up to the third floor, to see if his partner Gino is prepared as well to gather all the equipment that needs to go into the van. Gino brings down the equipment. Donnie then pulls the van around to the back of the building where they load up their equipment.

After that they are then off to the destination were they will be recording. Donnie usually drives to the destinations.

“I usually get excited about whatever it is we are working on, Moses said. The Shop-with- a Cop was exciting to see so many children doing well in school.”

To help get prepared, or in the order to shoot Gino prepares the video camera to be in recording mode. First they check the area of the scene to see if there is any extra footage that they may want to add to the video.

Usually we already know our destination and what we will be filming, said Gino. But they still get into action by practicing what they will say and what questions will be asked.

The Shop- with – a-Cop was already pre-planned. Then Donnie and Gino headed to the Target in Mondawin Mall (Baltimore’s Inner City Mall).

“All of the police cars were there lined up in the parking lot to take the children home with their gifts,” said Moses.

So they entered into the target about 10:30am to start recording the children as they shopped with the officers through various aisles. The children received the gift cards to make their purchases. The gift cards were sponsored from Target by the Baltimore City Police Department.

However Moses has other multiple projects that he is working on. So again they have to get there footage and be out to complete other projects.

Moses has to get back to the office to make some calls, he working on getting a list of people who has been charged with vehicular manslaughter. He needs a composed list of such so that the proper people will be called for court hearings.

He had to get the phone with news reporter Joy Lapola, to give her the needed list so that she could finish her story as well.

“Donnie is a hard worker, and he loves getting the job completed and I love helping to make sure it is right, Gino said.”

Moses, whom began out as an undercover narcotics officer, now spends much time in the seat of his office doing a lot of desk work. This is required when you are doing work in the media field of the department. His work from being an undercover police has helped him have patience in doing so much other work that requires a lot of running around.

“Being here for a while I learned the ends and outs to the process. I know its work that sometimes requires more time than what wants to be spent, but demands require”, said Moses.

Moses has many upcoming projects for the New Year 2011; we will see and hear more about them in our local Baltimore Sun paper as well as our local TV stations.
